On 16th November 2022, YONECO conducted a child rights awareness session at Mazinga Clinic in Choma Village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Nyaluwanga in Nkhata-Bay district.
This session was aimed at engaging community members to modify harmful cultural practices which promote child neglect and Sexual Gender Based Violence(#SGBV).
During the session parents were urged to refrain from forcing their under-age children into marriages, a practice which is prevalent in the area.
In total 37 people attended the session of which 14 were female and 23 were male.
